Who are italk Broadband?
italk Broadband is a UK-based internet provider that has been serving homes and businesses since 2007. Known for its simple, no-nonsense broadband packages, italk offers reliable connections with unlimited data, UK-based customer support, and fixed monthly pricing. Unlike some larger ISPs, it focuses on straightforward plans that suit both small households and light-to-medium internet users.
What packages do italk Broadband offer?
italk offers a variety of broadband plans, from ADSL and part‑fibre (FTTC/VDSL2) to full fibre (FTTP), designed to suit different households and usage needs.
ADSL & Part‑Fibre (Fibre‑to‑Cabinet)
These are available where full fibre isn’t yet rolled out:
- Simply Broadband 50 – ADSL (copper) with average speeds ~10 Mb (basic internet)
- Fibre 50 – FTTC with average speeds ~40Mb
- Fibre 100 – FTTC with average speeds ~80Mb
Full Fibre (Fibre‑to‑the‑Premises)
These deliver faster and more reliable speeds over modern fibre infrastructure:
- Full Fibre 50 – ~40Mb average download
- Full Fibre 100 – ~80Mb average download
- Full Fibre 115 – ~115Mb average download
- Full Fibre 300 – ~300Mb average download
- Full Fibre 500 – ~550Mb average download
- Full Fibre 1000 – Up to ~900Mb average download (1Gb capable)

italk VOIP Home Phone Services
italk offers an optional VOIP home phone line for £8 per month. This includes:
- Unlimited UK calls to 01, 02, 03 numbers and UK mobiles
- Separate VOIP line delivered through your broadband connection
- Billing: Simple monthly add-on to your broadband plan
Why choose italk Broadband?
Truly unlimited broadband
100% unlimited downloads are standard with italk and you won't be artificially slowed down during peak hours.
Fixed price guarantee
italk broadband packages all come with a fixed price guarantee for the full 18 month contract. This means no mid contract price rises, giving you complete peace of mind for the full length of the contract.
UK customer service
italk’s customers care is UK based and available via phone or email during office hours Monday - Friday. You can even request a callback via the website.
Because they are relatively small compared to the likes of Sky and BT, they aren’t included in the quarterly figures given by Ofcom. We can however look at their Trustpilot rating. They are rated as ‘excellent’ with a score of 4.7 out of 5, with over 10,000 reviews. 81% of their customers rate them as Excellent and 10% as great.
What's bad about italk Broadband?
Few extras
Italk's simple approach means it comes with little in the way of extras. There is no TV option, no WiFi hotspots or any of the features you would expect from the more premium providers.
Long contracts
Italk don’t offer any short term contracts, instead all contracts are 18 months.
No speed guarantees
Speed guarantees are pretty common now with most providers offering some sort of guaranteed minimum speed before joining. However, italk don’t offer this guarantee and customers must accept that their connection isn’t guaranteed to reach any specific speeds.
Not the cheapest
Italk are not the cheapest on the market, despite their simple, no fuss, limited extras approach.
Basic router
Italk don’t publish much information about their router. Their website simply says that’s it’s free - not really a selling point given that free routers are pretty much standard with most providers.
Based on the information we are able to track down it appears to be an older 802.11n model. You may find that your internet speeds slow down if you move away from where the router is positioned. Other than that its a pretty basic router but should do the job.
