NOW TV is a subsidiary of Sky offering a contract free TV streaming service and a flexible way to watch the best of Sky's content without committing to a full Sky package.

Let's take a look in more detail at what NOW TV has to offer.

NOW TV packages

NOW is a streaming service so you will need a good broadband connection. The easiest way is to bundle NOW TV with NOW Broadband, though you can still use another broadband provider if you prefer.

NOW comes in the form of TV Memberships. The memberships are for one month at a time and you can cancel at any time. Be sure to cancel if you only want the membership for a month, otherwise they will automatically renew.

The available memberships are:

Entertainment - Over 300 Box Sets On Demand plus 11 premium channels including Sky One, Fox and Sky Atlantic.

Sky Cinema - The full suite of Sky Cinema channels plus over 1000 movies On Demand.

Sky Sports - All Sky Sports channels available on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Kids - 6 kids channels including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Cartoon Network, as well as 1000's of episodes On Demand.

Hayu - A channel dedicated to US reality shows including Keeping up with the Kardashians and The Real Housewives of New York City, plus over 5000 episodes On Demand.

No contracts

NOW TV's main selling point is no contracts. This makes it the perfect choice for those on short tenancies or who only need the service for a short time.

If you regularly have all the NOW TV memberships then it may actually work out cheaper with a Sky TV Bundle. Though this means signing up to a contract so it really depends on your needs if this is a better option or not.

How do I watch NOW TV?

Watch NOW TV instantly on over 60 devices using the NOW TV App. You can also register up to 6 devices on your NOW TV account and watch on 2 at the same time.

NOW TV Smart Stick: The NOW TV Smart Stick is a small device you plug directly into your TV's HDMI port. Access all your NOW memberships on your TV, as well as apps like Netflix and YouTube. It's also portable so you can take it with you, handy if you travel and use hotels a lot. It comes with voice search and lets you pause and rewind live TV. The Smart Stick currently costs £24.99.

Smart TVs: Watch NOW TV using the app on your compatible smart TV. Note that NOW TV isn't currently supported on smart TV's from Sony, Panasonic or Toshiba.

Set Top Boxes and Streaming Stick: Watch on EE TV, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, BT TV Box or YouView. NOW TV is not currently supported on Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Games Consoles: NOW TV is supported on PS4 and Xbox One.

Mobiles and Tablets: Download the NOW TV app from App Store or Google Play. NOW TV is not currently available on Windows mobiles or Kindle.

Frequently asked questions

Does NOW TV include Freeview?

No. NOW TV only includes paid-for channels. If you want to watch Freeview you can watch via a box, a smart TV or an app.

Can you watch Netflix with NOW TV?

A Netflix subscription is not included with NOW TV, however you can still sign up and watch Netflix via both the NOW TV Smart Box and the NOW TV Smart Stick, as well as any internet-connected device that offers the Netflix app.

Is NOW TV cheaper than Sky?

This depends on which memberships you want, and how often. If you just want Sky Cinema at Christmas, or only want to watch the very occasional football match then this will be cheaper than signing up to an 18 month contract with Sky. But if you regularly have multiple memberships for months at a time, then you could be better off with a Sky subscription.

Can I watch NOW TV in HD?

A standard NOW TV memberships streams in 720p, but you can boost this to full 1080p with the NOW Boost add-on.

What is NOW Boost??

For an extra £5 per month, NOW Boost gives you full HD so you can watch in 1080p video quality instead of the usual 720p. Boost also lets you watch ad-free, and gives you an extra streaming allowance so you get to stream on 3 devices at the same time.
