Sky Whole Home: Watch Sky in Different Rooms
Sky Whole Home is Sky’s current multi-room solution for Sky Glass and Sky Stream, replacing the old Sky Multiroom name. It lets you watch your Sky TV subscription in multiple rooms at the same time, all over your home broadband.
With Whole Home added to your Sky TV package, you can:
- Watch Sky on up to 3 Sky Glass TVs and up to 6 Sky Stream Pucks in one household
- Stream different channels or on-demand shows in each room
Adding Sky Whole Home also upgrades your account to Sky Go Extra, which lets you download programmes to watch offline on up to four devices, including game consoles. This effectively allows you to enjoy multiroom functionality without needing an additional Sky Stream Puck or Glass TV.
Each Sky Stream Puck comes with a one-off setup fee, which is charged when you add additional devices.

Ad Skipping on Sky Glass and Sky Stream
Sky’s ad-skipping feature is a paid add-on for Sky Glass and Sky Stream, designed to give you more control over how you watch your favourite shows. With this optional upgrade, you can skip or fast-forward through ad breaks on supported content, making binge-watching smoother and more enjoyable.
How it works:
- Skip Ads button: During supported on-demand shows or paused/restarted live TV, you can press the “Skip Ads” prompt to jump past ad breaks. This will stop the need for you to manually fast forward through ads.
- Fast-forward through live TV: You can fast-forward through ad breaks up to the current live broadcast.
Limitations
- Ads on third-party apps like Netflix, YouTube, or Spotify cannot be skipped
- Not all catch-up or app content supports ad skipping; some may still require manual fast-forwarding
- It does not remove all ads completely, only gives the option to skip them
- Requires the optional ad-skipping add-on, which will incur a small monthly fee
Sky’s ad-skipping feature is ideal for viewers who want more control over how they watch their favourite shows, making binge sessions faster and more enjoyable while still supporting the on-demand and live TV ecosystem.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a satellite dish for Sky TV?
No, not if you choose Sky Glass or Sky Stream, which work entirely over broadband. Only Sky Q requires a satellite dish.
How much does Sky TV cost?
Sky TV packages start from £15 per month. View all the latest Sky TV deals.
Can I get Sky TV without Sky Broadband?
You don’t need Sky Broadband to watch Sky TV, you are free to choose broadband from any provider. Though it's always worth checking what deals are available, as it may work out cheaper to bundle your TV and broadband together.
What is the minimum broadband speed needed for Sky Stream and Sky Glass?
Sky recommends a minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps to enjoy Sky Stream or Sky Glass smoothly. This ensures that live TV, on-demand shows, and streaming apps all work without buffering, even if multiple people are watching at the same time.
Is Sky Stream the same as Sky Glass?
Both use the same dish-free, streaming-based Sky TV platform, but Sky Stream works on your existing TV via a small puck, while Sky Glass is an all-in-one TV.
Is Sky Glass a TV?
Yes — Sky Glass is a 4K smart TV with Sky built in, so there’s no satellite dish or separate box. Just plug it in, connect to WiFi and start watching.
Can I still sign up to Sky Q?
Sky no longer actively promotes Sky Q and has removed it from its website, but you may still be able to get it by calling Sky directly. Availability varies, and Sky is clearly pushing customers towards Sky Glass and Sky Stream instead.
How do I switch to Sky TV?
Switching to Sky TV couldn't be easier. Once you have found the deal you want, simply click the ‘View Deal’ button. This will take you to Sky’s website, who will guide you through the rest of the process. Or you can click the link below to go direct to the Sky website.
If your current provider is Virgin Media then you will need to let them know that you're leaving and it's up to you to coordinate the end of one contract and the start of another.
If you're choosing a broadband package and are currently with another provider that uses the Openreach network, then they will do the contacting on your behalf.
Some broadband providers may increase monthly prices in line with the retail or consumer price index each year during the length of your contract. Please refer to individual broadband provider's terms and conditions before signing up.
